      Getting married<\/h3>\n

      If you\u2019re thinking of getting married in church, firstly may we congratulate you on your engagement!<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Marriage is a very ancient idea.\u00a0 The Bible suggests it goes right back to Adam and Eve, who were \u2018made for each other.\u2019\u00a0 Jesus loved a good wedding: he turned water into wine at a wedding reception, his first recorded miracle.\u00a0 Even today, marriage exists in practically every country and culture on earth.<\/p>\n

      So marriage has always been part of God\u2019s good plan for us.\u00a0 And no wonder!\u00a0 A good marriage is healthy, freeing and life-giving. Christians believe that marriage is a gift from God.\u00a0 A church wedding ceremony at St. Nicholas not only provides you with the setting of a beautiful church building but there is also something in a public commitment of this magnitude that has a deeper spiritual element to it and which can transform a relationship to a new and deeper level.<\/p>\n

      You will need to know about some legal requirements and procedures. These are important!\u00a0So, to start with we\u2019d invite you to contact our Parish Administrator and then come and chat to our Rector, Rev Sally Buddle<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

      Banns of Marriage<\/h3>\n
      \n\t

      Banns are an announcement of your intention to marry and a chance for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place.\u00a0Banns need to be read in the Parish where each of you lives as well as the church in which you are to be married, if that is another Parish.\u00a0You must have your Banns read out in church for three Sundays (during our 10.30am Service) during the three months before the wedding. Most couples try to get along to hear their Banns being read at least once.<\/p>\n

      If you are marrying in another parish please contact the church office for details on having your banns read at St Nicholas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
